Jewish Social Justice Council wins Student Organization of the Month

For their work on the Sleepout for the Homeless, the Jewish Social Justice Council (JSJC) has been honored by Student Council by being named the Student Organization of the month. Based on the Jewish tradition of celebrating Sukkot by sleeping outside in temporary dwellings, JSJC created the Sleepout to recognize those in our community for whom sleeping outside is not an occasion to celebrate. For the Sleepout, JSJC brought together multiple groups on Grounds and in the Charlottesville community to raise awareness and money for the cause of homelessness. This year they raised over $4,000 dollars!
